Thought for the Day
Here you can find scripts and recordings for some of my "Thought for the Day" contributions to BBC Radio 4's flagship news and current affairs programme, Today.
The Today programme is one of BBC Radio 4's daily news and current affairs programmes. It is broadcast on weekdays from 6.00 am to 9.00 am, and on Saturdays from 7.00 am to 9.00 am. "Thought for the Day" is a 3-minute slot in the programme at about 7.47 am every day, offering a religious reflection on a topical issue.

Contributors come from a wide range of different religious perspectives. There are frequent campaigns to have the slot opened up to humanist and atheist as well as religious perspectives. However, as one producer remarked, the whole of the Today programme is essentially secular in its outlook. Religious believers make up a significant proportion of listeners to the programme, and three minutes is hardly excessive in terms of catering for their interests and insights! I have been contributing to the programme since October 2016.
